Europe, round two

When I landed back on Canadian soil after my Europe trip last fall, it didn’t take very long before I was contemplating my next overseas excursion. I had known all along that I was going to like Europe, but I didn’t realize how quickly I would end up falling in love with it. Maybe it was the change of pace and the chance to immerse myself in something so different from my everyday life, maybe it was the culture and the sense of history that got to me – or maybe it was something as simple as the food and the coffee that drew me in and kept me captivated. Regardless of the reason, I was suddenly determined to return to Europe as much as possible, which is why I’ll be sitting in a plane bound for London at this time tomorrow, almost exactly one year later.

The itinerary is straightforward enough: London first, because the city fascinates me and the two days I spent there last year was barely enough time to scratch the surface; then onto Santorini, where I’ll spend most of my time soaking up the sun and the rest of my time comparing the island’s souvlaki offerings. From there I’ll head to Rome, where I’ll likely eat my body weight in pasta and gelato when I’m not busy slurping cappuccinos; and then from Rome I’ll move on to Paris (which now feels like my second home) to perfect the art of shopping, lounging at sidewalk cafés, and croissant consumption.

I’ll be travelling with a friend in London and Santorini and continuing on solo after that point. While I’m in Europe, I’ll also be keeping up with work (in an ideal world, work just wouldn’t exist in Europe, but unfortunately reality is slightly more complicated), trying to take pictures of everything I lay eyes on, and keeping an ever-growing list of recipes to attempt when I get back home. Now if only I could get my suitcase zipped shut…

So jealous it hurts. Santorini {well, Greece in genearl} is #1 on my travel wishlist. Can’t wait to hear about it when you’re back!

I loved walking around in central London when I worked there. Around every corner was something of interest, whether it was a park, architecture, or just something old.
